Universal
Transverse Mercator (UTM) Grid - National
Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) formerly the National
Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) (formerly the Defense Mapping
Agency) adopted a special grid for military use throughout the
world called the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grid.

- This manual describes geographic to grid and grid to
geographic conversions from the Universal Transverse Mercator
(UTM) and the Universal Polar Stereographic (UPS) grids.
National
Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) provides timely, relevant and
accurate geospatial intelligence in support of national security. NGA,
formerlly the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA), was established
October 1, 1996 to address the expanding requirements in the areas of
imagery, imagery intelligence, and geospatial intelligence.
