The Mechanical Universe - The Mechanical Universe helps meet different students' needs, from the basic requirements of liberal arts students to the rigorous demands of science and engineering majors. This series is also valuable for teacher professional development.

Motion Mountain - This site publishes a free physics textbook that tells the story of how it became possible, after 2500 years of exploration, to answer such questions. The book is written to be entertaining, surprising and challenging on every page. With little mathematics, the text explores the most fascinating parts of mechanics, thermodynamics, special and general relativity, electrodynamics, quantum theory and modern attempts at unification.

Space and Astronomy Lesson Plan Ideas - Out of This World! Great Space and Astronomy Lesson Plan Ideas. Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences in the world. Space has been studied for thousands of years. In the modern world, the fascination with space and astronomy has only increased. It’s important for students to learn about astronomy and space so they understand that the universe is a large place with many wonders. Finding the right lesson can be tough so here are some great lesson plans for astronomy teachers.

ADC for Students & Educators - Today there are very many fine Web sites for Astronomy Education. This page includes information on using ADC resources and links to selected external resources for learning about or teaching astronomy.

The Telescopes in Education (TIE) Program, is a project designed to bring research-grade astronomy to schools, amateur clubs, etc. by way of a remotely-controlled telescope and easy-to-use software for data acquisition. This telescope was built and used by Caltech, and was used in the 1960's for a project during the Apollo program to test if the Moon's surface was solid enough (as opposed to soft moon dust) for spacecraft to land on. It has been re-commissioned by the Mount Wilson Institute to advance hands-on education in astronomy.

Ongoing Programs in Education The NOAO Educational Outreach Program was established to make the science and scientists of NOAO more accessible to the K-12 and college-level communities. In addition to the Ongoing Educational Programs, you can find general Educational Information about astronomy, NOAO, and Kitt Peak, and some wondeful Educational Materials for the home or classroom, developed by NOAO scientists.

StarDate Online is the public education and outreach arm of the University of Texas McDonald Observatory. Our award-winning radio programs are heard every day in English and Spanish on more than 300 stations. And our popular bimonthly astronomy magazine is the perfect skywatching companion for amateur astronomers or anyone interested in celestial events and space exploration. We also keep tabs on the events in the night sky and offer astronomy resources to teachers, the media, and the public.

Leaflets distributed by the Royal Greenwich Observatory - Copyright to these Leaflets remains with the RGO and permission to use them in any manner other than for private use or for inclusion in school project work is forbidden without expresss permission. Downloading of these Leaflets for educational use by private individuals or schools is encouraged, and permission is not needed for such purposes.

Astronomy: Journey to the cosmic Frontier provides a complete description of current astronomical knowledge, neither at an extremely technical level nor at a level that fails to communicate the quantitative nature of physical science.
